A grocery store that closes in 2021 can be a gateway back in time. Ña Serapia, which operated for 58 years serving regional dishes, takes with it a juicy and gigantic history intertwined with the National Penitentiary that used to be in Parque Las Heras, Severino Di Giovanni, Roberto Arlt, a waiter from Tartagal who became Gioconda, and an avenue that witnessed it all. Prisoners and spicy empanadas, executions and works of art, all that exists beneath the now paved streets of Palermo. The story of the grocery store that was born when one of the world's prisons dies.
